Puppies and Kittens

All puppies and kittens should have a pediatric wellness visit shortly after they are acquired.  This includes a thorough physical exam, microscopic exams of fecal specimens to check for internal parasties, kittens should be tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency (Feline AIDS) Viruses at their first visit. Both puppies and kittens will have 3 to 4 pediatric visits 4 weeks apart to assess their growth and general health status.  Their immune systems are immature, at these visits they will also receive the appropriate vaccinations.  During these visits future health care such as spaying and neutering will be discussed. These procedures are generally performed between 4 and 6 months of age.  Owners are encouraged to bring in questions not only about health care but also training and behavioral concerns.
